Professional Accreditation - The Path to Professional Recognition

Professional Membership of HRINZ

There are two main membership categories of HRINZ.

  1. General Members are people who are interested or involved in some aspect of Human Resources management and development.
  2. Professional Members are members who seek and gain the institute's formal recognition of their skills, knowledge and experience in Human Resources management and development.

The first level of Professional Membership is recognised with the suffix MHRINZ. Applicants for professional membership may do so as a Generalist, Specialist or as an Academic.

The second level of Professional Membership occurs when the member is subsequently recognised by the Institute and as an Associate Fellows - AFHRINZ.
Fellows of the Institute (FHRINZ) recognises outstanding contribution to Human Resource Management and to the Institute.

Professional Members

Accreditation is an important membership step. It demonstrates that Academics and HR practitioners have satisfied the Institute that they have the particular qualifications, knowledge and experience as well as possessing an ongoing commitment to HR professionalism and excellence in a tertiary or workplace environment. Accreditation also provides a visual reminder to others that the member has advanced skills, knowledge and credibility in Human Resources Management. Professional Members have full rights to participate in the activities and affairs of HRINZ, including the right to hold membership of the National Board and various other governance roles in the Institute. Professional Members are presented with a certificate to recognise their status and may use the letters MHRINZ after their names to denote their recogniton.

Associate Fellows and Fellows

To be eligible for Associate Fellow status (HR Practitioners or Academics) applicants will have had Professional Membership status for at least two years and been recognised and nominated by their Branch peers as having been actively involved as an influential leader in the HR community or academic environment.
