HRINZ professional development programme and Competency Framework
HRINZ has developed an internationally benchmarked competency framework for the professional development of Human Resource Practitioners within New Zealand. This flows from HRINZ’s objective: “To encourage and support the development of professional knowledge and competence and high standards of performance amongst its members”.
All courses available through the HRINZ Professional Development Programme are aligned to addressing one or more of the competencies outlined in the competency framework.

BUSINESS CASE DEVELOPMENT FOR HR PRACTITIONERS
Senior managers make prioritisation decisions based on the information presented to them, the best argued case often achieves success, even if that programme was not the most deserving at the time.
The HRINZ Business case development for HR practitioners course has been specifically developed to address the deficiency of the HR Profession in preparing the necessary business cases to obtain approvals from Senior Managers. The HRINZ Board has endorsed this need, based on the practical experiences of Board members as HR practitioners themselves.

REFRESH HR
Studying HR theory is important, but HOW you apply it once you are in the workplace can make the difference in being an average or an exceptional HR professional. Each Refresh HR workshop covers one key area of HR and ensures you learn the key points you need to know to develop your HR skills. The content includes employment legislation, case law, real life case studies and best practice. Throughout the workshop there will be discussions, quizzes, real situations to analyse and a focus on practical tools and techniques that you can use.
The learning objectives for the Refresh Programme are:
- Understand the appropriate legislation and case law for areas covered in the programme
- Apply legislation correctly to ensure company compliance
- Use a range of practical tools and techniques to apply excellent HR processes
- Provide practical HR advice to managers in the areas covered in the programme
- Use a range of methods to communicate effectively with managers and employees during difficult HR processes.
This series of workshops was piloted in Auckland in 2009 with great success and we are therefore pleased to be able to offer you further courses in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin in 2010.
